Solo Dinner

Happy Friday!

I’m flying solo this evening. Cooking for only myself always seems kind of pointless, and I had no desire to go out in Friday evening traffic for take out, so I decided to just grab something while I was out running errands. I was completely indecisive, so I decided to grab a few different things and have a few bites of each.

First stop: Whole Foods.

I picked up this quinoa and kale roll. I’ve had an aversion to sushi since the last time I was sick, but this was different enough that I quite enjoyed a few pieces.

I also bought a few pieces of sesame tofu from the deli. Oh my god. This stuff is amazing. I want to eat it every day for the rest of my life.

I had a major hankering for fresh spring rolls, but Whole Foods was out. I remembered seeing some at TJ’s, so I stopped there too.

Big mistake. These things were terrible and I hated them. They were wet and bland and the sauce was much more like salad dressing than peanut sauce. Strongly do not recommend.

Finally, I stopped at the Redbox and rented Frankenweenie, which I am currently watching with Sid.

Spending the evening relaxing, catching up on sleep, and planning a very full day tomorrow!

Any big plans this weekend? As for the bread from the last post, I’ll get the recipe from Greg and post it soon!

  1. just made 2 batches of seitan. One is chicken and the other corned beef – or so we hope. I always have corned beef for St Patrick’s day and this year is the first without meat in the house. We are going to make grilled Reubens with the seitan corned beef. The timer is calling and mock meat should be ready! Will be using the chicken batch to make, among other things, some buffalo wings using the baked breaded chex cereal recipe you taught us! Wish you could join us to try our new dishes!
